David Keene is judging Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes
David resides in Plano, Texas with his wife Barba and is a Risk Analyst for Citigroup. He has been in the financial services industry for nearly 30 years. They have two grown children and three grandchildren. David and Barba started showing basset hounds in 1988 while residing in Memphis, Tennessee and founded Morningwood Kennels in 1993 with the birth of their first litter. With that litter they were hooked. They finished 5 American Kennel Club Champions out of that litter and began a journey that would take them places they never imagined. In 1994 Morningwood Ulysses S. Grant was born at their house and would go on to produce 35 champions and win the first Best in Show for Morningwood. He went on to win 4 more Best in Shows and a Hound Group Second at The Ottawa Kennel Club Show of Shows, along with an Award of Merit at the Basset Hound Club of America National Specialty, an Award of Merit at Westminster and Best of Opposite Sex at the Basset Hound Club of America National Specialty from the Veteran Class in 2002. That was his last show. Morningwood has won 40 Best in Shows in four countries including Canada so far.
David and Barba have been involved in many aspects of the dog world over the years, having held office in several breed clubs and all breed clubs. David was a Delegate to The American Kennel Club for several years and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Kennel Club.
To be asked to judge the Sweepstakes for the Basset Hound Club of Canada is a great honor and privilege and David is looking forward to seeing your promising young dogs in action.
